Fishing & Cooking Skills depth and QoL improvements

A major overhaul to the Fishing and Cooking skills, introducing new rods, new fish and 2 remote islands to fish from, alongside a revamped cooking system with lots of new recipes including a Cauldron and Stone Oven, and new meals that grant player buffs.

Fishing & Cooking Skill Overhaul

v0.2.6 is the biggest content update yet. Both the Fishing and Cooking skills have been overhauled from the ground up — new tools, new recipes, two remote islands to explore, and a full sailing system to reach them.

Fishing

New Rods & Hooks

Fishing now has a proper tool progression. Four new fishing rods and four new hook types have been added, each with animated sprites and crafting recipes via Smithing.

Fishing Milestones

Each significant fishing level now has an unlock milestone — a message that tells you exactly what becomes available at that level. These are visible in the new in-game skill milestones panel.

Sailing & Remote Islands

Sailing System

You can now sail to remote islands using the fishing boat. You'll need specific skill requirements and alot of gold if you want to explore these islands!

Coral Reef Island

Sail there from the fishing boat, to do this you'll need 2,500 coins and a fishing level of 35. Here you'll find some higher-level fishing spots such as lobsters and YY which can't be found on the mainland. A fishing barrel on the island lets you deposit your catch straight into your bank without sailing back every time.

Deep Sea Island

The Deep Sea Island is also now fully accessible. Sail there from the fishing boat on the Coral Reef Island, to do this you'll need 25,000 coins and a fishing level of 70. Here you'll find even higher-level fishing spots such as bass, swordfish and even sharks! Of course theres a fishing barrel on the island to get those valuable fish into your bank.

Cooking

Cauldron

The Cauldron is a new cooking object that opens up a set of recipes not available anywhere else. Unlike standard cooking, the Cauldron consumes all your ingredients upfront and then simmers the meal over several ticks. You'll need a ladle equipped to use it.

Current Cauldron recipes:

  • Stewrequires Level 40 Cooking
  • Fish Chowderrequires Level 48 Cooking
  • Curryrequires Level 62 Cooking

You can get cooking ingredients from the Cooking Ingredients trading stall located on the mainland.

Stone Oven

The Stone Oven unlocks at Level 47 Cooking and allows you to bake high-level pie recipes that can't be cooked over a standard fire or range. It also has a lower burn rate, making it more forgiving at lower levels.

Current Stone Oven recipes:

  • Fish Pierequires Level 47 Cooking
  • Admiral Pierequires Level 70 Cooking

Meals & Player Buffs

Meals cooked in the Cauldron or Stone Oven will grant temporary stat buffs when eaten. Active buffs are displayed in a new buff UI on your player panel. You can also eat food at full health to pre-apply a buff before heading into combat. More details on what meals provide which buffs will follow in update v0.2.7

Recipe Balance Pass

All cooking recipes have received a full balance pass — XP rates, tick durations, and no-burn levels have been tuned to give a smooth and rewarding progression from Level 1 through to 99.
