Combat Overhaul, Ranged Combat & Guest Accounts

The biggest combat update yet — Attack and Defence have merged into a single Combat skill, Ranged combat has arrived with bows and arrows, three new monsters join the world with smarter pathfinding AI, and a full tier of armour and weapon sprites has been added. Plus Guest Accounts, a reworked World Events UI, and a fresh coat of paint on the login and loading screens.

Combat Overhaul & Ranged Combat

v0.2.7 is the biggest combat update yet. Attack and Defence have been merged into a single Combat skill, a brand new Ranged skill has arrived with bows and arrows, three new monsters now roam the world, and a full tier of armour and weapon sprites has been added from Bronze all the way to Blood Steel.

Combat Skill Rework

Attack and Defence have now been been combined into a single Combat skill. A few other changes came with it:

  • Starting HP raised — your Hitpoints level now starts at 10 instead of 1, giving new characters a much better survival buffer
  • Tool & weapon slots merged — one equipment slot now handles both, so there's no more juggling between "tool" and "weapon"
  • Equipment stat totals — the equipment tab now shows your combined attack, strength and defence bonuses across everything you're wearing
  • Combat & Ranged milestones — a full unlock list for both skills, visible in the skill milestones panel

Ranged Combat Arrives

A full Ranged combat track has launched alongside melee:

  • New shortbows and longbows, from the starting Shortbow through Oak, Willow, Maple and Bloodwood tiers
  • New arrows to match, from Flint all the way to Blood Steel.
  • New characters now start with a Shortbow, and 50 Bronze Arrows so you can try it immediately
  • Hitsplats are now synced precisely to the moment a hit actually lands, for both melee and ranged, making the combat feel much more responsive.

New Monsters & Smarter AI

The NPC system has been rebuilt from the ground up to follow a proper animated sprite convention, making it much faster to add new monsters going forward. Three have joined the world already with many many more to come;

  • Goblin
  • Zombie
  • Skeleton

Monsters will now pathfind toward you when you attack them instead of standing still, and per-monster attack timers have been tuned for a fairer fight.

Full Armour & Weapon Progression

A complete set of armour and weapon sprites has been added across every tier — Bronze, Iron, Steel, Carbon Steel and Blood Steel:

  • Full Helmets, Platebodies, and Platelegs
  • Kiteshields
  • Swords, Scimitars, and Daggers

New Smithing recipes let you craft all of it, and a longstanding bug where weapons and shields could render in the wrong order depending on equip order has been fixed.

World Events, Reworked

The in-game World Events interface has been completely overhauled. Completed events and rare drops are now announced to every logged-in player, and reward details are shown directly in the event UI instead of being a surprise.

Guest Accounts

You can now jump straight into EverWorld with a Guest Account — no registration required. Play immediately, and convert to a full account at any time to keep your progress permanently. Guest accounts that go inactive for 30 days are automatically cleaned up.

Marketplace, Inventory & Chat

  • Inventory slot moving — you can now drag items between inventory slots, and stacks merge automatically
  • Marketplace sell notifications — you'll get a chat message and a notification icon the moment one of your listings sells
  • Consistent marketplace pricing — sell prices now always inherit correctly from each item's base value
  • Chat channels separated — global and local chat are no longer mixed together
  • Duplicate chat messages fixed — messages were occasionally appearing twice; this is now fixed

A Fresh Coat of Paint: Login & Loading Screens

The login, register, and loading screens have all been cleaned up to feel more like one cohesive game rather than three separate pages:

  • Unified on a single retro font throughout, instead of mixing fonts between titles, labels and inputs
  • The loading screen now shares the exact same wooden pixel-art card, border and background as the login screen
  • Quick links to Leave Feedback, Membership, Help, Report a Player, and What's New are now available right from the login page

Bug Fixes & Quality of Life

  • Ranged XP bug — ranged weapons were incorrectly granting Combat XP instead of Ranged XP
  • Weapon level requirements — equipping a weapon above your Combat level is now correctly blocked
  • Max hit cap — a hit can no longer deal more damage than a monster has HP remaining
  • Tooltip clipping — tooltips no longer get cut off at the edge of the screen
  • Skill milestones — skills with no milestones defined yet now show "This skill is coming soon..." instead of an empty panel
  • Offline summary — fixed the offline progress summary incorrectly appearing while using the Smithing interface
  • Cooking ingredient check — the Cooking panel now checks your inventory only, not inventory + bank, when determining if you can cook
  • Level-up notification spam — queued level-up notifications now only show the latest level reached
  • Disconnection handling — a clearer UI now appears if you lose connection to the server, and the "connected" modal can no longer get stuck open
  • Marketplace/trader fixes — traders now always pay at least 1 gold per item sold, and rare item drops no longer spam the chatbox
  • Item icon fixes — corrected the Steel Kiteshield icon and a number of other missing or mismatched item icons
  • Object interaction — objects with no associated action no longer show a misleading "use" option in the right-click menu
  • World Zoom — World zoom now adapts to your screen resolution automatically, with a manual override available in Settings if you prefer a different view.
