Your First Fight

A practical walkthrough of engaging your first monster, from the click to the kill.

Picking a Target

Left-click a monster to attack it — if you're not already standing next to it, your character will walk over first and start fighting automatically on arrival. There's no separate "attack" button or right-click menu for monsters; a left-click is all it takes.

Every monster has a combat level. Your own Combat (or Ranged, if you've got a bow equipped) skill level needs to be high enough to engage it — if it isn't, you'll get an error in chat telling you so instead of a fight.

What to Expect Early On

Everworld's starting monsters scale gently:

MonsterLevelHP
Chicken13
Goblin25
Zombie1330
Skeleton2150

Chickens and goblins are safe fights from level 1 — quick, low-HP, and a reasonable way to start earning Combat and Hitpoints XP before moving on to tougher targets.

During the Fight

The combat HUD appears the instant you engage — watch the monster’s HP tick down as you trade hits.

The combat HUD appears the moment you engage, showing the monster's name and a depleting HP bar. Both sides attack on independent timers based on their own weapon/attack speed — you're not waiting on the monster's pace, and it's not waiting on yours.

Keep an eye on your own HP too. If you're carrying food, your character will automatically eat when it's needed during a fight — see Death & Respawning for what happens if you don't quite make it, and Buffs & Consumables for what your food options actually do beyond healing.

Loot

Defeated monsters drop coins and items straight onto the ground near where they fell — walk over them to pick them up. Drops are randomised per kill, so don't expect the same monster to hand over the same thing every time.
